The 18th Annual Symposium would not have been possible without the volunteer efforts of the Flagstaff Chapter. The dedication, initiative, and extraordinary teamwork of the 2005 Planning Committee helped make the symposium a success:
The Executive Committee — Don Bills, Jim Janecek, and Richard Brose — provided exceptional guidance and hard work throughout the entire planning process. Jim Janecek offered his vision and dogged perseverance in producing the Conservation & Innovation Forum. Dana Downs, Leslie Graser, and Frank Protiva (Shephard-Wesnitzer) were also critical to this forum. Don Bills — in addition to providing every kind of logistical support imaginable — tracked and reported all our financial activity. Richard Brose secured the sponsorships that are so integral to this event and provided meeting space, along with some fine cuisine. Margot Truini and Nancy Hornewer interfaced with technical session and poster presenters, spending many hours compiling and formatting papers. Nancy Riccio kept our web presence updated, and Paul Plato (from the Phoenix Chapter) set up our online registration system. Nancy also provided meeting space and played a key role in developing the brochure, program, and online proceedings. Kyle Carpenter of SAHRA designed the brochure. Lulu Santamaria of Santamaria Design Group provided printing support. A team of student volunteers assisted with the registration desk, audiovisual equipment, and posters. Erin Young not only coordinated these volunteers but she also scheduled this year’s workshops. Hospitality Performance Network, led by Maribeth Wodzien, coordinated the symposium planning process and interfaced with the Radisson Woodlands Hotel and the Museum of Northern Arizona. As always, the AHS Corporate Board provided not only financial and moral support, but also overall guidance during the planning process. The keynote speakers and participants in the Conservation & Innovation Forum gave their time and knowledge. They not only made presentations, but they also helped plan this special event. The success of the symposium was also due to those who moderated and spoke at the technical sessions, those who presented posters, and those who led field trips and gave workshops. To all these individuals, we extend our most heartfelt thanks. They deserve recognition for their countless hours of hard work. We’d also like to thank those who provided in-kind support. ADWR graciously printed copies of the proceedings for those who wish to purchase them. NAU provided audiovisual equipment and boards for the poster session. The USGS also provided audiovisual equipment, as well as printing services and meeting space.
